Visitors to the Maritime Festival 2019 will get to experience life at Galloper Offshore Wind Farm this Saturday (27th July 2019), from the comfort of Harwich Quay.  Despite being 30km offshore, the Galloper team will be bringing the wind farm to life for visitors from their stand and support vessel based at Harwich’s iconic Ha’ penny Pier.

Galloper, a 353MW offshore wind farm of the Suffolk coast, is operated out of Harwich International Port where a state-of-the-art operations and maintenance base is currently under construction.

Galloper Operations & Maintenance Manager, Sean Chenery, said: “We can’t wait to be part of this fantastic festival which reflects the towns rich maritime history and its vibrant community. Many of our sixty strong team are local and this is an opportunity to share our passion for renewable energy and offshore wind to friends, family, locals and visitors to the area.

“Galloper team members will be on hand to help people experience an out of this world, 3D virtual experience of the wind farm. It is incredibly realistic, allowing people to get up close to the turbines, showing their enormous scale and magnificence.  For an even more realistic experience we will have one of our wind farm support vessels at the quay and visitors can board the vessel, talk to the crew and look at the on-board technology.  There will be lots of other fun and interactive things for people to do at our stall and we look forward to being part of this important local event.”

The much-loved festival has an exciting sea and land based programme intended to attract thousands of people from across Essex and Suffolk. Organised by Harwich Haven Authority, there will be over 50 traders, live entertainment and must-see water based activities going on throughout the day.  All with free entry.

Galloper Offshore Wind Farm is owned by innogy SE, Siemens Financial Services, Sumitomo Corporation and ESB and a consortium managed by Green Investment Group and Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets. innogy led the development and construction of Galloper Offshore Wind Farm and operates the wind farm on behalf of the project partners.
